Spring Greetings from Candle Hill!
We have two very "fat" dogs here with both Bree and Wessa expecting pups soon. Be sure to check out the pictures below. It's been a very busy spring. During this time between litters, I packed in all those things a person must get done, from travel to surgery on my thyroid which I had kept postponing. You will get a kick out of this. One week after my surgery, there was a search called for a missing man, likely deceased in the wilderness. What is one to do? Max is a good search dog. How could I not take him? As I thought about it, I reasoned that given how Max is trained to range until he finds a scent, I could basically stand in a field while he did all the hard leg work. My decision was sealed when a sheriff's deputy knocked on my door personally requesting our services.
It was great! We followed the deputy by car to a site where I scented Max on the man's pillow case. Off we went on a gentle stroll. Suddenly, Max whirled around, he was showing me that he was on scent. Twice he tried to cross the very busy interstate highway, but I called him back. In my mind, this was going to be a search by car. So with the info Max provided, we loaded back up, took some time to rest, and then returned later with my older son who could do the ground pounding I wanted to avoid. Within an hour, taking a direct line from wehre Max had indicated, we found the missing man's body. The detective later told us that given where the man was found, they could never have found him without Max's service. It is a great reward to be able to give closure to the family who would otherwise have no peace. This was a county I rarely work with. They were quite pleased to realize that there is a good search dog in the area. Below (below the pictures) is a thank you letter from the county sheriff. Hooray for Max!
Pictures taken today. First Max and Wessa, expecting pups May 14.

See the pups!

Second, Bree and then Strongheart (V Imo Vom Werraufer SCH III, FH) and Bree. Bree may have her pups by the end of this week. She is due on the 7'th of May.

It is beautiful here in N. Idaho. When the pups are born, I'll be sure to let you know. Here's the letter from the Sheriff, below,
Best Regards, Elizabeth
