You can see that by the end, they were getting tired of their photo session.  They are still little babies.

We also have some great updates from puppy families.

This photo comes with a story with a happy ending.  David first contacted me to inquire about puppies in the winter of 2005.  He lived in tranquil New Orleans with his life set to retire shortly.  But when Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, David escaped at the last minute in a car his neighbor had left behind for him, just in case.  After losing his home and his life plans, David set forth to rebuild his life.  Part of that was to get a new German Shepherd puppy.  We sent him Sam from our H litter out of Strongheart (Imo) and Baccara..  But then came a point last year, when David thought he wouldn't be able to keep Sam.   This summer he sent this picture with this update:  " I had only enough money to retire in a foreign country and then very economically.  I wasn't sure if I could afford to keep Sam.  Well after some time feeling sorry for myself, I decided that I was going to retire and I was going to keep Sam.  So when life just pulls the rug out from under your plans..........you just get a better plan...". ( He then writes about how things were falling into place to move to Buenos Aires, from getting a job teaching English, how he was able to get a price cut on airfare making it affordable, another opportunity which came up to ship his belongings cheaply, and finally a contact who helped him find an apartment which allows dogs--all which came about quickly after making his decision).  "It does look like Sam and I will be home in Argentina for Christmas.  As I have always believed, when you commit to anything, life will move in the strangest and unforeseen ways to support you.  The moment I decided I wanted it ALL, to retire, to be doing something I loved and to have Sam with me it started to fall into place.  Just another life lesson in never giving up on what you love and that there is never just one way to do anything.   In the end, it's about doing what it takes to have what you love....and that would be Sam."

For those of you who may be struggling right now, I hope David's story brings you encouragement.  To David and Sam, we wish you the very best on your new adventure.

Elizabeth
