Shows and Puppies

September 9,

There is so much to report!

During this summer without litters, we have had more time to get busy trying some new things on the competition trail.

Having finished with Hero’s Schutzhund I in June, we moved on to Agility, with my dog, Wessa, and my daughter, Hannah, working  Wessa’s daughter, Chinook.
Jake also got to play, earning his JJ-N, Junior Jumpers Title in ASCA. Isn’t he beautiful when he jumps.

Hannah, our daughter who works Jake,  also achieved the Junior Jumpers Title with Chinook.
Keep watching this pair.  Chinook has just the structure you would want for this agile sport,
coupled with a high drive for the obstacles, plus willingness to please.
Look out Aussies and Border Collies, the German Shepherd has arrived!

Then just this last Saturday,  I caught up to them with Wessa,
when she achieved both her JS-N ( Novice Jumper) and GS-N (Novice Gambler) Titles in four consecutive qualifying runs in one day,
one of which she placed First out of eight dogs.

We also heard about an International Breed Conformation Show and hastily, Hannah and I each prepared a dog.
Jake achieved the prestigious top rating of V-1 in the two shows he entered,
and young Rubicon, our black pup out of Strongheart and Ulrika, achieved the highest rating for a puppy, SG-1,
Best of Breed Puppy, then went on to win Third in the Group class.

But the big news is that last night, Daila had her puppies.  NINE!  Six males, three females.
We have been getting great reports on Hero’s litter from last year,
making us even more enthusiastic about presenting this 100% Czech breeding from the top Czech lines.
They come from strong working lines, but have the sweetness that we love in our dogs.
Be sure to tell your friends, because with more pups than we had expected, we still have some available.

Presenting Daila and her pups, six boys, three girls, born September 8, 2009, (the odd lighting comes from the red heat lamp).

We have also heard great reports from many of you. Robin, who has Cooper out of Strongheart and Bree, writes, “Cooper was in her first dog show, the huge Jonesboro show that falls twice a year. The first day she beat 30 dogs to win First Place, and the second day she beat 29 for Third Place.  One ringside observer, a stranger, told me that Cooper was the happiest worker in the class.  I am so encouraged and now have a plan for future classes and shows for both dogs.  Did you know about the new classes and titles?  The AKC has added Graduate Novice, Graduate Open, and Graduate Utility (I think), as well as Versatility classes and titles, so now I can enter Annie in Graduate Novice at the GSD Specialty instead of Open and still be earning legs toward a title, GN, while Cooper continues in Rally.  Thank you! Robin”

Kim who has Auri out of Max and Wessa writes:  “Hi Elizabeth, just a note to tell you that Auri got her CGC yesterday.  She's such a rock star!  We're preparing for NASDN  tracking /trailing certification the end of the month.    I'll be sure to let you know how that goes.   Kim”

Thank you all who have been sending in pictures. Be sure to check them out on the Updates pages and on the Testimonials.  If ever you think I missed an email, please simply resend and draw my attention to it. If I haven’t replied, it usually means, I did not receive it.

I’m sure there are others of you who have summer brags.  Be sure to write and let us know.  My philosophy is to have fun and make the effort to get out there, even before you feel completely ready.  There is no better way to learn.  If you become too good and never reach beyond your level, you become an expert and then the fear of failing steps in.  Wessa and I moved up from Novice to Open giving us a good idea of what we need to work on for the next year, after her pups.  In other words, we were out of our league.  But we had fun.  You can, too.

Elizabeth
