Summer has finally hit even North Idaho!  At Candle Hill, we have many announcements.

First Puppies!

We expect a litter of pups from Sara and Max, continuing the longhaired DDR line which many of you have been pleased to find very trainable, with plenty of drive, but with an extra measure of willingness to please which makes them such fun to be with. Here are Max and Sara today.  And yes, Max is that red.

Seeing how well Hero’s puppies from last year are turning out, we are using him more this year.  Hero and Daila, our 100% Czech pair, both titled (Hero has his SCH I and Daila has her ZVVI, a Czech version of the same thing) and both with great drives for work and companionship are expecting pups in September.  This litter will be followed by another in the fall with Hero and my precious Wessa.  I’m particularly pleased because I was able to put the Schutzhund I title on Hero in June.  If you are not familiar with the Schutzhund sport, getting a Schutzhund I is a bit like getting an AKC Versatility title all in one day.  The dog must perform in Tracking, Obedience, and Protection work.  Here is Hero stopping the attacker.  The second picture shows him searching around the blind to hold the suspect.  He scored 92 in Protection, “Pronounced for Courage”.  There are more photos on Hero’s picture page.  I’m so proud of my boy!

There has been so much happening since my computer crashed back in April when I temporarily lost you all.  We had two great litters of puppies go home, which you can read about in Testimonials http://www.candlehillshepherds.com/testimonies/testimonies.html and stay tuned for updated pictures under the Updates  http://www.candlehillshepherds.com/updates/updates2009.html portion of the webpage.  We are very pleased with the temperament and beauty of these pups and hearing great things from their puppy families.

Our goals are being realized.  Unlike many breeders, we raise, train, and title our own dogs.  What this means for you is that we know our dogs!  We also have a good idea how to pick pups for your particular line of work or family needs.  This summer, not only did Hero earn his Schutzhund I title, but Indy earned her BH (a Schutzhund temperament and obedience test, prerequisite for higher levels), Jake earned one leg towards his AKC CDX, and one leg towards a NADAC Agility title.   Kindra was due to enter the May AKC shows for her CD, but came into season so she was not able to compete.  Max participated in a massive Search for a two year old who was found safe.  We continue to train dogs in Search and Rescue, Schutzhund (tracking, obedience, protection), Agility, AKC Obedience, and yes, dogsledding.  The picture below shows our daughter, Hannah, and Jake with his 2nd Place and Qualifying Ribbons for AKC Open, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Your emails and updates on your pups mean so much to me.  If you know of another Candle Hill family or friend who is not receiving this email Update but would like to,  be sure to have them contact me or let me know yourself so that I can get everyone entered back into the system.  Of course, if you don’t want to receive these updates, let me know and I’ll take you off.

Be sure to keep checking the webpage because we are adding new pictures frequently.

My best to you for a wonderful summer!
