I debated for two days about writing this because I would never rank our beloved CH GS’s. They are all superbly bred and extremely lovable. I will say this- the breeding of Bear and Little Bear has resulted in a distinctly different companion. In October of 2022 I asked Elizabeth if she would ever breed them. She responded affirmatively and I immediately signed a contract. I’m 79 now and have had GS’s since I was 12 and this one, Jack, will likely. be my last puppy. I wanted him to be exactly what I wanted. We drove 840 miles one day to be interviewed by Bear and visit with Little Bear. It took a millisecond of seeing Bear to decide. We were interviewing them as well. My wife almost had a heart attack at the size of his frame and hid behind Michael at first when Elizabeth brought him out holding on tightly. I walked right over to him and we mutually greeted. Puppies from this breeding seem much longer and taller and are definitely lean. This is exactly what we wanted it may not be for others. Jack has turned out to be a clone of Bear. Elizabeth once remarked “ he is Bear”. He’s 11 months old and considerably larger than our beloved CH Oh Mercy who is nearly 14 and has never been sick a day in her life. She is now “chasing” Jack and that has made her “younger”. Our vet told us Jack is too skinny because you can see his ribs. “Feed him at least 25% more” he said. Between us our vet is very plump. Elizabeth guru to all of us said no way. Jacks legs are longer than any GS I have ever seen and his body is more greyhound like than Little Bear or Oh Mercy…just like Bear. Anyway, if you are interested in these qualities, I cannot possibly recommend puppies from this or future Bear/Little Bear breedings strongly enough although ALL CH puppies are beyond the beyond magnificent.
